Day 3 – Saturday 4th May 2013

Day 3 – Saturday 4th May 2013
Bonjour! A very relaxed start to the day, a pleasant breakfast at the hotel, checked on the webcam at home, doggies are looking good, said ‘Hi’ to Ryan and Laura as we watched them as they collected Murphy and Lucy for their day out at the agility show! Big Brother stuff or what! After breakfast, Ian worked his magic on the radio microphone and, hey presto! We have contact! The only technical hitch now is to get Carole in to the jargon! As well as “10-4 good buddy”, we have invented “10-5 good buddy”, interpreted as “No idea what you’re on about”!!. Geoff has a slight leak on the clutch master cylinder, so a little top-up of fluid required, but after that, we’re off! Weather started out glorious but clouded over a bit as we progressed. We think UK and IOM have got some bad road surfaces but they are positively bowling green-like compared to some of the dodgy road surfaces and pot holes we encountered. Stopped for a lunch break at a Carrefour, I’d forgotten how salubrious French loos can be!!! Off again, went through some very pretty French villages and very open countryside, they don’t appear to like the concept of hedges so no idea where the poor French wildlife lives! Got to our destination of Chalons-en-Champagne, just south of Reims, late afternoon, hotel La Renard very pleasant. Had a walk round this very pleasant town where they currently have a jazz festival so quite busy and cosmopolitan, the French are just so chic and stylish, feel a right scrufbag! Heard from Karen that dogs have had a nice day out at the show, thanks Karen, Ryan & Carole. Sorry that Lucy trashed the back of your van Ryan – oops!!! Ate in the hotel, ready to re-charge the batteries for tomorrow’s adventures. Bonne Nuit!
